The problem with that airplane is it totally looks like the stabilator was an after thought... just sort of like those French guys were like "Oh crap we forgot that" and just attached it to the back of the airplane.

The Lancair PropJet on the other hand is a real single.

The instructor who trained me for my PPL was a student at the University of Dubuque and I think they have Trinidads in their fleet. He had one with him at my local airport for some reason one day and took me up for a ride late at night. It blew me away. With only 25 hours in a Warrior, I thought the gull wing doors and center console were pretty sweet. Funny how experiences like that stick with you.

Indeed.

<----- Hence, I took the picture in my avatar when one flew in to my home airport.

Five bladed prop and turbine engine on a four seater? That's crazy!

Ok, if you think that any spam can looks better than a P-51 or F4U you need to have your head examined.

All I've ever wanted is to fly one of these....sure it's not much of a stepping stone in terms of time, but looks like a blast to fly.

Weelllllllll .... they're kinda 'pretty' but I didn't warm to them. The cockpit feels 'groovy' with the gull wing doors and center console, but the instrument layout is terrible. The engine gauges are shockers - tiddly little vertical scale instruments, the needles jump up and down, stick, YECCCH. The center console has odd push in / pop out switches.

Very heavy in roll, and has peculiar behaviour at the stall with gear / flaps down.

Can't say I'm a fan ... but they are fairly sweet looking. But you want 'sweet looking'? Have a gander at the SF-260 :
