I'd rather just not do it period. I rather they stay with mainline doing them and thus a better pay and a good out and back. But I guess I would rather see PSA pick it up then RAH/Mesa etc....
While that's all noble and what not, why are you telling me this? What purpose did that statement serve? Was there knowledge that you passed to me that I did not know?
Anyway, let's talk about real stuff, since you want that path.
First, your organization is in a serious hurt right now. How do I know this? I was talking to a friend that flies for the "mainline" side of things, and is quite worried about not receiving a paycheck around the first of the year.
Second, the Beijing slots were turned in. You can forget the whole "yeah, but they told the DOT they want the right to get them back thing." International ops don't work like domestic. The whole false start a station deal that works fine in the states, doesn't do so well overseas. Those slots, for a service that never began, are gone. Of course, with no aircraft to operate them, the mere holding of a slot is worthless. No one, other than LCC, wants that pairing. FWIW, that's not transferable either. The city pair would need renegotiated if they wanted to do CLT-PEK.
Third, being that the parent is in a cash crunch, and there is no more expansion at any of the carriers, this will either be "route finding" if no mainline jet serves the market, a seasonal service that a premium can be charged for, yet won't support a mainline jet, or it's moving a mainline jet to a more profitable route.
Fourth, you are owned by LCC. You should be more upset that you aren't on one list with them. Why weren't you integrated when AmWest bought the airline? Is your 121 flying a different standard from their 121 flying?
Those are things you should worry about. Not repeating the same, "yeah, I wish mainline would get that flying" crap over and over and over. We all get it.
Especially those of us that watched mainline evolve from a 1-2 year pay hit to a 10+ year pay hit for the same work.
