Anyone here knows the cost of this program?(including the J1 visa)
or the cost of the program which includes PPL,INS,Commercial(ASE,AME) under the part 141 or 61!
and how much is the accommodation per month!

Thanks at all

Might be easier to contact the company directly in my opinion!

First, I came from Taiwan. And I would like to know the price of the visa program J1 and M1. It seems that the J1 visa program is the professional pilot program. And M1 program only achieve the PPL, Instrumet, Commercial single and multi-eng under the part 141. Also the time building to accumulate to 300 hrs. Besides, I wanna know the cost of the living in the duration of the training, especial the cost of the accomondation.
Thanks!

It seems that the sierra's mail box is malfunction. Below is what I received after sending my inquiry!

Well I did all of my training at Sierra and swear by their quality, but the prices of fuel have drivin the costs to such outragous levels that even I cannot recommend Sierra at this time unless the rates drop. I don't know the exact cost of the entire program now, but it is much higher than it was when I did my training and I spent an insane amount. I can tell you that you will spend well over $100,000 on everything including housing. Sierra does not have any housing accomidations, but they may be able to arrange a roommate for you in a resonably priced apartment (reasonable for the area anyway). The average apartment in Livermore can run anywhere from $800 to $1200 per month. With a roommate you can cut that in half, but its still very high.

I'd recommend you find a good instructor at a resonably priced FBO in a less espensive part of the country to live. With fuel prices what they are today, that'll be the best way to get your ratings without having to sell your first born child. If you can find a good instructor, and have a lot of motivation and discipline to work hard, the quality of training can be as good or better than any academy.

Why would anybody spend 100K for training? Unless you have a rich family you really have to be retarded. How do these places stay in business? 100K is almost criminal.

Can't speak for other places, but Sierra survives almost entirely on its international airline contracts. If it was relying only on the handfull of local students it would be long gone, especially since they lost accredidation and can't work with Key bank for student loans anymore. Not too many people have 100K burning a hole in their pocket.

They are right next door to Sierra. I don't have much experience with their instructors except for a couple checkout flights, but the aircraft seem fairly well maintained, and they are reasonably priced. Its a pretty nice little school. There's also Attitude Aviation on the other side of the field. I flew with one of their instructors for an aerobatic intro flight in the Citabria. They do the aerobatic training for our Chinese students in Atwater. They seem like a great group of instructors.

Well, I'm not in Livermore, I'm in Atwater at the other campus, and with any luck I'll be leaving in about 2 months for the airlines, but if you are ever in the Denver area send me a PM if you'd like. :)
