The "Plight" of Great Lakes....

One of the deciding factors from the community was reliability.
Erry'one makes jokes about how unreliable the Brasilia is, but truth of the matter is, I don't think it's particularly terrible from a mechanical perspective.

And since we can staff our operation and they can't...

I don't see what the problem is, it says it quite clearly on their webpage....

"Great Lakes Airlines offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including, but not limited to, a retirement plan, health & life insurance, and paid time off. "

Yeh, PUB. Skywest bid it for $200,000 more dollars (like the kind at an ATM machine) for 2 years at 12 flights per week, than great lakes.
Ok, as much as I like seeing EAS contracts in AK where there literally is no other option EAS to PUB is a little ridiculous, considering COS is about 45 miles away.

You also operate it in some of the nicest weather in the country. Operating them out of MSP or ISN is a totally different story.

I'm not giving Great Lakes an excuse, I hope they burn as much as the next guy.

I don't because I'm hopeful they could turn it around and make it a great place to work. Not likely though.

They operate out of SLC, SUN, and DEN too. Better than MSP, but it's not all LAX and SAN over there.

Sure. I don't have the numbers in front of me though, but when considering adjusted completions, weather and ATC cancellations don't "count" - merely things within the control of the certificate holder.

A Laker that I commute with informed me that they had more lines than pilots, and forget about reserves. He's been hired at Eagle and Compass and is joining the exodus.

Trickle down effect of pilots going to major airlines? More like pilots willing to do anything than go to Great Mistakes and get paid less than part time hostesses at a Dennys...
