The Philly Phenomenon

So yeah...flow control is in full effect for flying on the East Coast today. I'm wirelessly connected through Ottawa's Concourse wireless internet to deliver the message that even though the weather's not that bad in Philly (it's freezing rain here that's another story) I'm stuck in Ottawa, Canada in the exit row of my CRJ because I doubt customs will let me go get coffee.

Anyone else enjoy flying into Philadelphia? Be glad you're not based there...

The new system in use in Philadelphia rates inbound flights by operational necessity or something...so obviously flights coming across the pond get more priority than the guy coming from Cleveland. So everything with Express on the side gets to go last...even though when we get to Philly they're like, "keep your speed up you're number one for the runway" I guess when everyone else is sitting on the ground...

Oh well. Loving life on the east coast today...moderate turbulence all the way up here, the autopilot dying 500' about mins here in Ottawa...yay.

Does anyone else have this horrible a sentiment about Philadelphia?

I don't understand, of course a flight from C-Town would be more important than a small puddlejumper from some desolate location like..oh I dont know...London.

Seriously, wouldn't that system suck for people coming on the express flights with short layovers in Philly? I've had to do that before and if I remember correctly, you have to wait for a shuttle bus that connects you between the regional terminal and the main terminals. That system sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen.

Just semantics but you mean 'connect'. Pax don't layover. They like to think they do but in fact do not.

How exactly did the autopilot die? Trip off because of the chop?

It was yellow and it said AP PITCH TRIM and it made the airplane go "ding". Our trim system is weird and can move faster when the flaps are in transit...in our aircraft's case it just stopped...

There was more red on the schedule board and people sleeping in the Philly airport when I left tonight than there were on thanksgiving...

How do people put up with this? I miss the west coast...

You're right - PHL really sucks. Not really an issue now for me but I used to bid to avoid PHL flying.
