The other airline killer

The TSA !!!!!

Last week in ATL they had over 400 people miss flights due to inadequate staffing. Departure delays use to be one of the biggest complaint but now everyone complains about having to go through security. Like alot of gov't ideas the TSA started out good but never was properly handled. The AJC (local paper) has printed several articles about this and the Aiport's General manager says he complains all the time. Well unitl someone opens their ears the airlines are going to suffer there also. People are not going to fly that trip thats under 6 hours now if they can drive. Heck they can be halfway to there destination by the time they get to the gate. I get tired of hearing about how labor cost are the problem. Thats a given even in good times. But until the security gets addressed the airlines are going to lose tons of potential income there. I know there are some TSA folks members here and its not directed at you. Its the upper guys who schedule and manage the facility.

I know have vented.

I know how you feel. I travel an hour to fly out of FNT as opposed to drive 15 minutes and fly out of Detroit. It is so much easier going through TSA

really? I've never had a problem with the TSA in detroit. I don't think i've ever waited more than 5 mins in line for them. Haven't had to take off my shoes or anything.

Which is the old terminal in Detroit? I always fly United out of the old terminal and never have any problems with security there. My mom has flown from the new terminal and said it's much worse over there.

Well, TSA's contract is up in November, so we'll see how many airports keep them around. I think DFW is said they are for sure gone from there already, and I think MIA has said they're keeping them. If I had to guess, MCO is gonna give 'em the boot. Everytime I go through security it's changed from the day before.....

You are right Tim. This is a disaster for the airlines and has to be fixed. When Leo Mullin was sitting in front of congress asking then for a Federal program for screeners I was screaming at the TV. This and fuel prices are setting up the coup de grace>

Luckily for us Leo is gone now. I saw today in the AJC the new promotions for executives. At least they are all Delta people except the new CFO

LOL nah I am scared of ATA I have flown so many ATA L10-11'a to Saudi Arabia for operation southern watch. Shoot I still have nightmares everytime I see " your on vacation with ATA" LOL

You fly for ATA?

I fly for Chicago Express/ATA Connection. ATA is a pretty dang good airline, when you're on the 757 and 737. The L1011s, although a wonderful bird, are getting OLD!
