The new guy!

Seems a little bit over confident for a person with what? 13 hours? :cwm27:

I would if I had not spent my money at UND, instead I have 6. Nothing beats 300 dollars a flight (After ground time with the instructor is factored in of course)

I guess you would not know about that with your "full ride" though

Your right, i really don't... I paid for my flying before i turned 14.

Side with the guy who is receiving free hours and bickering about it whatever. I'll just sit and spectate :bandit::beer:

At least that guy is getting hours.

All I care about is getting my PPL, I could care less about building hours, as I do not see a stable income coming out of being a civilian pilot. I am about to start flying again soon, so what are you getting at here? :dunno:

Could not care less.;)

Mhmm... do you know what the flight experience requirements are to get a PPL?

Blah blah blah, you know what I meant

Like 50 hours or more part 61, depending on when your instructor decides to sign you off. At the place I am planning on doing it, it will be around 80 dollars an hour wet with the instructor and around 55 for solos. So it will be a lot more affordable for me and I should be able to actually swing it by having a part time job over the school year.

At UND unless you have the loans available to you, the 300 dollars a flight I ended up shelling out is just plain impossible on any part time job one would find around there.

What is the name of the flight school. That sounds like a good deal. Is that a wet rate or dry rate? How much does the instructor make per hr of ground instruction?

The site seems out dated, but I spoke with the lady on the phone (She was extremely nice) and have heard nothing but good things about them.

Wet

Don't know what instructors make, but I assume it must be 20 dollars an hour judging by what the lady said when I talked to her.

I think they are based out of Superior, WI. I had spoken to the manager, over the phone, a few months ago. I am almost done with my PPL and was thinking about building time and working towards the IR.

He said the 152 was 52 $ an hour wet. Flight instruction for private and instrument was 18$ an hour.

Cheers
Sunny

If you end up doing that, let me know how it goes. From what I hear, people have the same opinion of the place that I had just after talking to the person on the phone for 10 minutes after flying there :D

Seems like a great place for me to start up again imho.

40 hours minimum part 61, 35 hours minimum part 141.

meh, most students prob spend 60+ hours anyways :rotfl: I donno if it's bad instructors or just incompetence... I've seen kids (both at my FBO and at UND) that are in their mid 80s and still prepping for their PPL check ride. :bandit:

Hey everyone,
I'm a UND CFI and thought I'd say hi and tell a little about myself

I've been here for some time and there's no end in sight.
As my name implies, modern aviation does not impress me, as I am more interested with "old aviation" you know steam gauges, VORs, the fundamentals of flight etc. But just like life, either adapt or die, so I've adapted to glass cockpits and GPS. Before UND I've flown in other states and got my Private before coming here. I'm here to help and answer questions when I can, I'm pretty busy. Until then later!

Uh, welcome to Jetcareers. We're a good sort, mostly. Occasionally we have a few folks call the Orkin man for a proctological event, but even then we still iron it out.

So welcome aboard. Draw a kevlar helmet from supply and a pint from the bar. Glad to have ya.
