That would be their choice. I maintain there are other options. Why did these guys choose Compass over Evergreen or a Japan contract? They made a personal choice that was best for them for whatever reason. I can't speak to their specific situations. All I can tell you is my friend, who has a family, had no problem getting on at Evergreen and turned down 13K a month, 10 days a month off, with tickets to and from, Japan contract.
If a guy would rather be a Compass F/O than work overseas, that's his business. Personally, I'd rather make 13K a month and be home 10 days a month. How many days off does a Compass reserve F/O get? 12? UPS it would be 13.
To say a furloughed 747 driver can't do better than 20K a year is way off base. Maybe a low time Xjet F/O, like yourself, that I believe.
