Nothing like that coming out of Deer Valley...

Re: UPDATE

They have advertised for the KLM program, it requires 500 dual given. I don't know if they still have openings. Since it is all single engine time, I don't think they will have many takers with that much dual.

Re: UPDATE

Pan Am was advertising for instructors for the KLM section. I think they hired 2 off the street, but they are pulling a few more from the FAA section. The pay is okay and the working hours are good, but no multi time.
<---------and you might end up instructing a Dutchman like Goldmember!

I got the call!!!

I got the call today I have been waiting for since August! I start instructing next week! I will be going into the Chinese section. I have to go to the instructor meeting on Thursday where I will learn all the details. Then I have to do another stands flight with the assistant chief. I guess since its been a while since indoc. they want to see if I can still land.
I'm just happy to start. Its been a long wait.

Re: I got the call!!!

Congrats, I have been following your wait and am glad your finally going to be able to put some of the time and money to use.

Re: UPDATE

Congrats, Turk! Your story was great inspiration for me when I decided to change careers. Glad to see things falling into place for you!

Also, Pan Am has been hiring off the street for their new operation in Livermore, CA. I just lost my instructor to them . . .

They're asking for 1000TT.

I think they are just having a hard time convincing PanAm instructors that it would be a good gig for the $$$ being offered. $30K sounds like alot, but isn't the COL in Livermore pretty expensive? For the Phx CFI's, I would think they could have a better existance on current CFI wages in PHX since the COL is much less in PHX than in Calif. But what do I know... :-)

Re: UPDATE

I know that the COL here in Fresno is a lot higher than what I'm used to from Michigan . . . and the Bay area is even higher. I don't know how it compares to Phoenix, though. Probably more but I can't guarantee it.

I'm also guessing that quite a few of the instructors from DVT and FPR aren't at the mins for the Livermore program. They're look for folks with some descent experience. In fact, it's so close to the times needed to apply for regional positions that I know a few people who don't even want to bother applying.

Why are they hiring off the street? Why don't they want to hire their own graduates? The Flying Turkey graduated in June and he didn't get hired until this month!

Re: UPDATE

This is for some of their contract training with foreign airlines...not the FAA stuff. Many times those minimums are set by the person paying the contract or their insurance companies.

Re: UPDATE

And he may have not been interested in moving to Livermore...

Mav, why don't you throw the ole' resume in the pool, and see what happens. You ought to have the hours by now, eh?
