It was a weird job, I could write a book about it. Learned a lot about the other gender while working there.
I was making four to five times what my high school friends were making. I was driving a new car and taking flying lessons, not many high school juniors had that kind of cash. Soloed when a high school junior, got my PPL my senior year.

In your hypothetical, I wouldn't have a problem with a parent reacting that way if they knew that someone had touched their 17 year old child, but I could understand not wanting to rush to judgment when it comes to vague allegations against someone. Not just a politician, but anyone. So far, the case against Gaetz is nothing more than that.

While I agree on waiting until the legal process plays out, it isn’t looking good. Greenberg has been promoted from friend to accomplice according to his sworn statements surrounding the allegations. Greenberg’s plea deal adds credibility to the story. It isn’t “vague allegations” anymore.

Did you read the story you linked? It is all about Greenberg and says Gaetz wasn't named in any of the court documents. I don't think it really adds credibility. On one hand, you could say Greenberg agreeing to cooperate could implicate Gaetz. On the other hand, you could argue that Greenberg is trying to throw Gaetz under the bus to get a lighter sentence.
What I find interesting is if Gaetz had sex with an underage girl in 2017, that girl is at least 20 now. The way things are nowadays, she would have already held a news conference with Gloria Allred laying out exactly what happened with Gaetz. That hasn't happened, that's why I still say the allegations are "vague".

This is not meant as an attack, but I must highlight the inconsistency of this reasoning. On one hand any guilt or even eligibility to be accused is refuted because nothing has been filed yet and there are only anecdotes and association (this is fair, but my kid wouldn't be going on any tours with Greensy & Gaetzy).
But a lack of public J'Accuse…! by any child/woman molested by Gaetz is exactly rushing to judgement about people and should similarly not be used decide he didn't do anything.

I agree, but that's not the world we live in today. Instead, everybody bought the Jump To Conclusions Mat and plays on it daily; especially when it comes to politics/politicians. It's been this way for a while and I don't see us going back to being reasonable anytime soon.

That is my error, I linked the wrong story. The one I thought I had on the clipboard detailed how Greenberg is singing like a canary. Traveling together on trips (including the Bahamas), the 17 year old and the accused had a relationship before and after she turned 18, the venmo transactions and disbursement of funds to pay the girls involved, etc. Later today I'll see if I can dig up that article and post it.
No doubt that the court of law and the court of public opinion are different, but that is the way these situations go when you're a public official.

Unfortunately today’s news on Greenberg has propelled the plea arrangement to be the dominant story on all the news outlets and thus made it harder to find that other article. I’ll keep searching for it though.
