The Beech, EAS 'cities', and a Maine winter...

After flying 32 hours since Sunday of 121 ops since Sunday, we had to do the final two legs to Rockland and Augusta Maine tonight.

In Boston we find out it is 1/4 mile visibility ceiling of 100 feet nil braking action on the runway!!

We waited a few and then were dispatched when it cleared. After doing a NDB Hold for 5 turns so they could plow the runway we shot the ILS in RKD and I greased her down. The onto AUG where we landed. A nice kick in the pants on our 'friday' of flying.

Gotta love it.

How many hours can you work in 7 days on the 1900? I met some Corp. Express, uh I mean RegionsAir guys who were flying the J31 and they told me that they regularly do 8-9 legs a day. F that. Especially w/ the weather conditions that you described... And w/ no autopilot my brain would be mush...

I wondered who that was practicing to be a race car driver in a Colgan plane. ;) Go fast and turn around, and around and around.

We can do 34 hours in a seven day period, even though that RARELY happens. I picked up some open time, thus the close to duty out time for me. We do 6-8 legs per day. Your body needs to get use to it, thats all, stay well hydrated with water, etc.

My BIGGEST complaint with the plane is that we don't have access to water, juice, tea, coffee, etc. I am constantly raiding the storage rooms for those items. If I do a 6-8 leg day I become dehydrated and need my liquids or I am mush at the end. I DARE someone to come up to me and stop me from taking bottle water, etc from those closests.

So with all this water going in, when does it come out? No lav on that bird right? Are you even able to get out of the bird on your turns or do you stay inside and start boarding right after you cross the seatbelts?
