Waffles Brah.
I got it, officially.

Unable to justify the investment anymore, fixed wing charter is on the chopping block at my company, and I'm going with it. There are a million reasons why it failed, but onward and upward. I am happy to have a catalyst now. I have between 1 week and 1 month till they can't afford to pay me anymore...glad I started to look for a job months ago.

I'm so sorry, Talia. HOWEVER, I'm of the belief that one door closes and another (better) one opens. I'm sure you'll be back on top very soon! Good luck---and remember--good things happen to good people! :)

I wish you the best of luck finding a new job, unless you've already found one. Like they say, when a door closes another always opens some where.

:laff:

Oh, my, I just totally split a gut laughing! :rotfl:

Isn't Eagle hiring soon? ;)

It's science. I left DFW and nearly a full decade of travel later it managed to suck me back. Anything with that much pull must be the center of SOMETHING.

Yeah, Eagle's hiring. As it were, I'm the highly mobile one. I'm willing to sacrifice convenience so she can be where she's doing something that makes her happy. Beyond the fact that I'm already here, DFW's just another place.

TLD- Sorry to hear about your job. You'll find that as one door closes, another door opens with a better opportunity. Good luck with the job search.

If I were an unemployed aviation professional, DFW and Houston would be the 2 metro areas in the US that I would look very closely at moving to. Both of them have a HUGE aviation community, have not taken the economic hit that other aviation havens (such as Florida and SoCal) have, and are dirt cheap to live in.

YMMV.

What a wild day! Got laid off, decided that a nap in the tanning bed on the clock would be a nice reprieve. While in said bed, got a call from a company I applied with 2 weeks ago. So now I have 2 interviews stacked back to back this coming Friday in LA. Fantastic! Seeing as I just got laid off, I have the blessing of my boss as well.

So then I come back to work to see employees (who are not as understanding as I) storming out in a huff at their own unfortunate events....so I've been at work officially 10 (going on 11) hours today. Covering the phones on the front desk...gotta keep that company recommendation.

So in summary, today my company went stall, spin, crash, and burn.

I'll hang on as long as I can to draw some pay, next week mexico, after that, who knows...I'm pulling for one of 3 jobs I've applied for in Dallas....California is great and all, but, well, ya know ;)

Sucks about the job. Good attitude though. Not everyone has the attitude you have. We need more people like you to get out of this funk. Good on you to keep with aviation too.

I am a part owner in a business and we made it a corp concept that we were not going to lay people off during the hard times due to a drop in revenue. (Instead we are taking pay cuts). It is suprising how many of our 50 employees would rather see someone get fired so they could get a raise. Sad.

Good luck with the interviews.

Thanks for the support everyone. I really appreciate it, and know that the door is wide open now. Kind of exciting really! But for now I'm laying in bed, having trouble finding motivation for work today, but I suppose I should go into the office....

...We tried this. 2 rounds of paycuts in 2 years. Unfortunately the business model that was set up for 30 years (with an extremely high payroll ratio) is ultimately our downfall. We were never set up to encounter an economy like this. While we should have been socking the cash away, it was going out with payroll. Paycuts = unhappy employees. I'm amazed we couldn't pull together as a team more for the benefit of each other. But people are always looking out for #1. Sad, isn't it? The state of society in desperate times. Oh well, rant over, suppose I should get out of bed and go give 'er hell.
