The Airbus 380

I'm one of the few but I could care less about this plane. I think the 7E7 is a much more exciting plane. I have my doubts as to how successful the A380 will be but I'm certainly no expert. Nonetheless, I wish Airbus well with their new plane.

It seems so far-fetched to think that some major airports will have to accommodate a double decker, 800 passenger jumbo jet, but I'm definitel

The report I saw said that it would be compatible with current airports. That was a year ago, so thing may have changed

How about what the line at immigration will look like!!!! 20 lanes open for 50 US citizens and 2 lanes open for 750 foreigners!

The line will be all the way back to the jetway!

It looks like a cool plane... although.. still a big fan of the 7E7 as well... quite amazing !!

It still boggle's my mind though ...that many passengers packed into a pressurized tube flying thru the skies !! lol... Amazing .. imagine flying it !!

How frequently are international flights with larger planes filled to capacity now-a-day's with the current downturn in the industry? Has it affected International travel as much domestic ??

I'm pleading ignorance on this part.. don't often dig as deep into the airline industry as I should I suppose !!

I just hate to think of the number of lives lost if one of those 380s were involved in an accident. Man, talk about the pressure that captain has flying one of those suckers!

Think of it this way. The same things about baggage, lives, airport being able to accomodate, etc, were all being said about the 747 in 1969/70. Everything flexed and absorbed the 747, and pretty soon, all was normal.

IMO, it'll be the same with the 380.

When people used to ask me how the responsibility felt carrying 150-200 people in the back of a C-141, I would answer, "I fly the front 10 feet of the airplane, I figure the rest of it will follow." IOW, the pilots are worried about keeping themselves safe, whether there are 8 or 800 sitting behind them shouldn't matter too much.

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but with the state of the industry, how do they figure the 380 is in any way economical? I thought downsizing and RJ-sized jets were the "wave of the future".

IMO, 380 will be very popular with the pacific rim airlines....JAL and such. They'd love to have an all-coach configured 380. Large pax loads there.

Do you want to sit on a plane for hours with that many other people?!? I sure don't.

Well, I would love to (from the vantage point of the cockpit

You sound like a friend of mine's mom. We were talking about flying the other day and she seemed interested so I said I'd take her up sometime and she was like..."oh, no, stultus...I don't like to be with all of those people on airplanes..." I told her not to worry, it could be just us if she wanted. I have a feeling that her idea of a cessna 172 does not quite conform to the reality of it

Nevertheless, if you really don't like being around people, air travel is probably not the way to go anywhere.
