Me. I started flying at age 37. I'm now 40 and awaiting the opportunity to interview with a regional........ any regional.

C'MON PEOPLE..... CALL!!!!!

Big Up's to you! Inspiration my man, Inspiration.

Let me just say I'm SO HAPPY for Stan. R2F and I started conversing, through this board, in April of 2002. He was taking his first flying lesson and I was three weeks away from MY first flying lesson.

In the years that followed, we kept in touch with each other through sometimes daily, sometimes hourly, sometimes a bit more sporadic pms on this board. We went through our ratings at the very same pace, sharing checkride stories, successes, failures, fears, excitement...it was just very cool.

We hit our CFI training and Stan took off with his ratings...and the flight instruction that followed. So I'm still a measly 400 hour CFI (who really no longer has huge career aspirations but LOVES to teach!) and Stan's the airline guy. But through all this we've stayed in touch with each other and I talked to him for the first time ever on the phone Wednesday night when he was in DFW and had made it through that tough first day of written, interviews, and sim ride...and again today when he got the news.

You deserve it buddy, and it's cool to say I remember when it all began! If your flying brings you to MCI, a nice KC steak dinner is on me.
Your longtime pen pal....

Sarah

And as an aside while Stan's out celebrating...I'm not super-hip on insider airline slang, but I'm assuming 'the rock' is San Juan. Stan told me that his class would probably go to Los Angeles, Chicago or Dallas.

Congrats, dude! Any idea when you're starting training? Maybe I'll still be hanging around DFW when you're here.

Thanks everyone!!! I'll try to answer everyone's question:

JT - Thanks man!!! Looks like I'll may not be seeing "The Rock". They informed us that if there are any openings for the ATR in SJU, the young bucks tend to get that base. Us old geezers have seniority in our class and get to pick the plane/base of our choosing (that are open at the time).....but then again... that's what I've been told so far... and being a new hire... I just started drinkin' from the Koolaid.. and as happy as a pig in poop to do so. :D (BTW..thanks for the Jepp plates you gave me a couple of years ago. They came in VERY handy in my interview prep!!! If it weren't for JT folks, I might not have this job... in a round about way.) :bandit:

Flip: "What's a fist officer?" = :D Man...... SO many things I could do with that one,....... but this site is PG-13...so, I'll refrain :D :D :D

caliginousface: 1200TT 110 multi.

Sarah: In many ways, sbe is a HUGE reason I hung in there. We talked each other down from many a cliff. THANK YOU SARAH!!! Looking forward to that steak! ;)

Kell: I'll either be in the February 20th or March 6th class... more than likely the 6th. If I can get the 20th, I'm taking it = seniority and all that. ;)

I'm beyond thrilled about this whole thing!!! Cannot wait to start. My wife and I are going to begin shopping for a laptop for me to take with me so that I can get pics of R2F2 and her..... and so that I can stay in touch with you folks!!
