Technical/Rated job, non-pilot

I just received my AFOQT scores this morning. I was originally looking at a non-tech position, but my recruiter says I should go for Air Battle Manager. Aside from the fact that the Dec/Jan non-tech boards are canceled, he said they're having trouble recruiting qualified applicants for non-pilot rated slots. I know this is a flight position but I don't know much about it and I know my scores are not pilot-competitive, but I'm having a hard time evaluating how competitive my scores are for this route. Anyone out there gone this way or perhaps able to point me in the right direction?

ABMs work on AWACS aircraft and manage the battle in the air.
I cannot comment specifically on scores but someone in my ROTC detachment was just recently awarded an ABM slot.
