Taxi Troubles

True. I'm just personally not a fan of busting balls to fix ATC's mistakes when it puts me in a bad spot (possibly). You can mess up an airplane taxing around, espically when you have little experience doing it.
 
Yes, my instructor taxied over the runway and then let me take back over. They got on us on takeoff becuase we went the wrong way--my CFI thought we could get there that way and they were like, " Cessna XXXXX You're going the wrong way. Do a 180." Then he had me ask for permission to take off and I announed, "Cesnna XXXX, ready for takeoff, runway 34." Of course there was not runway 34--I got it confused but my instructor corrected. Also on our landing they had us set up for one runway then changed it as we were entering the downwind leg. Ah, the glory of working with ATC!
 
I had a hard time taxiing until I realized I didn't need to cover the brakes with my toes while using my heels to steer. I just use my toes on the rudder, and bring my feet up to use the brakes only when needed. Don't get fustrated, some airplanes seem to not taxi as easy as others.

Ya, you got it FlyOrdie. Its better to teach it, then taxi fast, and students use that as their standards. Its all situation based, but I definitely agree with you on your situation; especially when on an active runway, get ya butt of ASAP.

I'm comfortable taxiing a 150 in calm winds @ around 12kts. In the King Air I try to not exceed 35kts during the taxi, to some that might seem excessive but it seems to fit well at most busy SoCal airports.
