Tanker 944 no more

There was a report done by one of the Montana universities forest department that said we are over a decade behind in controlled burns and thinning non-native (fire-resistant) vegetation. It’s going to be a long time before we get to healthy forests.
Yeah it's hot mess all around, decades of good intentions but poor management coupled with accelerating warmth/dryness. This is from today, western CO and Utah looking extra crispy.

Yeah we flew in and out of Heber City yesterday and noticed how low the snowpack was. It’s shaping up to be another record breaking year.

Up here they are trying to start bio char processing for forest waste and to use it for carbon capture and spread it on all the ag lands.

I read this tweet and remembered this thread.

Cost per gallon is not a full picture, without effectiveness per gallon. The tank and result simply suck for the cost.
Certain fuel types are less of an issue. It is not meeting standards, the standards can be argued, but unless you are ready to ignore them, this result was inevitable and arguably deserved.
It is a treat to watch it work, but the result over a wide variety of scenarios just is not there.
