Tailbone Pain: Coccydynia

Anyhow been dealing with unrelenting tailbone pain when sitting, that came out of nowhere. Been to a ton of specialists for injections, physical therapy, etc. next step might be removal surgery unfortunately, but trying to avoid that. It’s really affecting my career, and ability to fly my trips. Yes I bring a cushion…i’ve tried them all. Anyone else dealing with pain back there when sitting?

Have you been to a chiropractor? Don't just try one, try several and ask about the Activator method. A very few chiro's have a spine de-compression machine that might help.

I used one of those spinal decompression machines for lower back and sciatic pain. Worked pretty well. That plus purple cushion had me pain free for a couple years.

Yeah tried all that as well, no help either unfortunately. Doctors did find a bone spur at the tip of my tailbone on xray & mri. I’m hoping steroid injections can keep the pain from it at bay, but unfortunately looking likely i’d have to have the tailbone removed for a permanent fix. Really trying to avoid that though, as I hear the recovery can be gnarly. Hopefully I can just live with it, but I have 23yrs left of this career before i’m done, so we’ll see how long I can take it.
