t-38 guys

That's a great story, bunk! A while back there was a civilian contractor in the T-6 who accidentally ejected himself, but they were at the hammerhead, still on the ground. This was a sim instructor IIRC, and he got the "Remove before flight" streamer from the ejection handle pin wrapped around the handle itself. I can't imagine what I would do if that happened to me, though.

No, that was actually the PIT IP that ejected at the hold short, not a contractor. It happened at Randolph. Maybe around the late 2004/early 2005 time frame.

Hadn't heard that one. Wow. I do remember the RND T-6 that crashed short of the runway at SSF after engine failure on approach.....2000 timeframe.

Hadn't heard about that T-6 ejection. The T-6A/B has the Mk 16 seat? I hear that is an excellent seat. The 45 has the Mk 14 and as far as I know, nobody has died from a 45 ejection....post ejection, yes but not from the ejection.

I was a Tweet PIT IP when that happened. No engine failure - human factors induced. Very interesting accident report though.

Human factors induced engine failure with the power lever, or something to that effect, if I remember correctly.
