System awards at CJC

Sounds like all the new hires will be going to the Sabb. Ill be glad to have a EWR base if I get the call. Its an easy commute for me. Were there a lot of people upgrading to the Q400?

More than half the crews have been investigated/suspended (many times for no reason) at ewr, never mind the fed rides.

I'm in ewr and have been for the last two years and I don't have the slightest clue what ur talking about. Yeah we got a bunch of line checks after 3407 but half? I'd say maybe 5% tops, I'm really confused as to what ur talking about.

I should add to anyone reading, this is completely word of mouth from anyone I talk to on the senority list at EWR. My impression was, that it was well known and it's also why the Q captain award (whatever your company calls it) went so junior. I assumed thats why no FO wanted to go there.

It's tough for me to believe these are all ghost stories and people just bashing their own company.

I don't think that's entirely true. EWR is actually a great base for a lot of the Colgan employees since they almost entirely live in the NE. But for the few like me we're happy to get out.

I think the "half have been investigated/suspended" is more the sentiment flying around the base. The actual numbers would be far less. probably less than 5%. There is a feeling the permeates the base that at any time we can/will get violated for just about anything.

Many of the FO's that hired on the Q originally did so assuming that they would be based in IAH a long time ago, so I guess it isn't really a surprise to see the mass exodus. I bid the Q assuming I would be back in IAH the following summer.

maybe right now as they prepare for all the cappy's to transition, then fo's to upgrade creating new positions.

further down the line, most of the newhires will likely be for the Q FO EWR. I'm guessing most of the saab FO's are probably going to slug it out to get the quicker upgrade in the saab.

maybe right now as they prepare for all the 340 cappy's to transition to the q, then fo's upgrade to follow creating 340 FO vacancies.

I'm going to miss flying with you guys. Some really good guys/pilots moving down to IAH. Some of whom taught me how to fly this whirly squirly egg beater.

So this was the bid that had all the IAH Q spots open up?

How 'junior' did EWR Q CA go?

there has been rumblings in BHB about them moving the Saab base to BOS, or at least opening one up or some new EAS stuff that they were bidding on. Just wondering if that was a reality now?

I was ecstatic to see that I'm moving another 5 CAs further down into the perpetually sitting reserve list... Not a chance in hell I'd ever move to Texas or commute for Colgan.

Yeah that's what the other guys are saying on the forum. From an outsider, hearing it every couple months like a rehearsed line, I honestly thought the EWR base was a lot worse off.

The most junior Q CA will be a mid 2006 hire. That excludes street captains. The most junior saab captain looks to be around a April-June or so of 2007 hire.

EWR is not that junior yet for FOs. The top 20 have all been here around 2.5 years.
