Swearingen SJ30 Status?

I know it is called the Emivest SJ30-2 or something like that now, but does anyone know the status? I've tried researching it lately but can not seem to find any recent information. They seem to have a decent order backlog and the aircraft itself has very very impressive performance. However, it has been in development for so long that the cockpit avionics are VERY dated.., seriously, new 172s blow the SJ30's cockpit out of the water.

It would be a shame to see such a capable plane fall by the wayside. I know Morgan Freeman has one on order as do a few high profile celeb pilots.

So, anyone know anything that I don't? I'm interested to hear what may be happening with it.

Hey thanks.

Man that plane is a STUD! I've loved it since I first read about it in Int'l Aviation news about four years ago. Sea-level cabin to FL410 at .83!! I want one, but like I said the avionics ahve been outdated for a decade.

Really? It's Moneywell Primus Epic. Same as the G350 through 550, F900EX, F2000EX, F7X, Citation Soverign and a few others. Even though it's not as fancy as the EASy cockpits, it's the same system architecture as far as I know.

Please don't pair true jet avionics with a G1000 system. The level of systems integration with an avionics suite like the Primus Epic is lightyears ahead of the G1000.

The SJ30 is definitely one of my favorites!! I'd love to own one!

As far as the costs, I read somewhere it's about $7.5 million.

An article I was reading in AIN a few years back stated that the avionics were already dated when compared to newer jets and lacked the features many newer jets have such as moving maps and things of that nature. THat's what I was comparing in regards to the G1000.

Wow it's sad that you jet jocks choose to make fun of what I said just because I chose to repeat what I read in a reputable publication. Your lives must be so rad that you feel you can do that. And thanks TallFlyer, your sarcasm really added to the conversation.

SJ30 looks like an interesting aircraft.

Back when I was in school a couple of engineers from Sino-Swearingen (back then) would take a trip up to Austin and talk to us about their work.

They were pretty proud of the cabin altitude and the F-16-style landing gear (attached to the body).
