Saw a SWA 737 either taking off or go missed yesterday as I was walking out to the plane.
In the 5 months I've been in Houston I havent seen any out there til yesterday.
Anyone have any idea why they were there?

Wow, I was there yesterday as well. Missed it. I'm heading over to the tower today as well. I'll ask one of the ATC "individuals" what they might know.

Probably a Military Charter, they do a lot of domestic charters for them. Maybe a sports team, or could be a training flight.

Please do. I was quite surprised to see it. I thought about asking either ground or tower, was a very quiet day yesterday, but not sure how that kind of stuff goes over.

If a charter why not go to Hobby? Its only 8 miles away and they go there anyway. I was kind of thinking training flight as well.

I bet it was a charter and to anwer your question - if it was a charter the client (military, NCAA or whoever) paid for it and that's where they wanted to go.

I see SWA charters show up at KLSV every now and again, even though KLAS is 10 miles away. SWA just brings up some ground crew and a few pieces of support equipment to LSV to service.

Definately - swa is smart and domestic military charters are easy money.

I'd say charter, but can't think of who. Rockets are returning from LA, Astros are coming home from Chicago, Texans aren't in season, Dynamo (soccer) is returning from NY, and the Universities (Rice and Houston) have finished up their school years so doubt it's either of them. I have no idea, unless it's military.

they fly into nyl a lot as well. this is about year old info since i havent been there in awhile. i remember having to hold and wait for them to come screaming up from behind me to land.

My brother has done several military charters as a SWA pilot - they do them frequently.

<O:p</O:pThey do not use their aircraft for training - they have simulators for this, and it would cost too much to have an empty plane flying around.<O:p</O:p
