SWA Assistant Dispatcher Posting

If I am fortunate to get that email
is studying the green book a good way. How many questions on the test and how should you dress

It's best to be relaxed in these types of high-stress situations. I recommend sweat pants, a loose fitting t-shirt, and some fuzzy slippers. You wouldn't want to be worried about whether or not your tie is straight.

If I had to guess "BINOVC" would be in the remarks section, OVC would be the ceiling listed...

Disclaimer: this is a guess, please please correct me if I'm wrong.

Come on guys this is basic METAR 101. If you want to work for Southwest or any major(or regional for that matter) you need to know how to read a METAR and know how to find the ceiling that is reported in the METAR. BINOVC is a remark added by a weather observer to describe the ceilings. The ceiling if reported is in the cloud layers that are reported in the main body of the METAR.

I just got that email also after
trading for those days off. Does
that mean testing won't be taking
place next after all

And they had to send this to me just as the final episode of "Quantum Leap" comes on TV. Terrible timing.

Are you being serious or what? I've never seen that in my wopping three years of dispatching. It's not something I've seen on a regular basis.

What email?? No body in the thread above has mentioned an email (except the one to test)???
What are you guys talking about?

I was just asked to test for the dispatch position at Southwest yesterday and said yes. Now they want me to reapply with a new requisition number and want to know if I have been asked in the last 12 months to take the dispatch exam. Is that a yes or a no?

I answered "Yes" because I have been asked to test...yesterday..

Well that would be a shame wouldn't it. Either way they asked a question and I decided the best thing I could do was answer it.

The question didn't ask whether I had tested, it asked whether I have been asked to test. Those are very different questions aren't they?
