Surprise, surprise!

Had an ultrasound yesterday, just shy of week 33 ... and since we couldn't find out during the earlier sonogram and waited this long, we might as well wait it out (okay, that was the wife's idea). My thinking was, if I found out cool, if not, that's fine as well.

Anyhow, the doc was looking and seemed as though he was going to tell us regardless...but the baby had its legs crossed and umbilical chord in the way as well ...

... so our baby will be a surprise as far as boy or girl. I'm pulling for a son ... but healthy first and foremost.

Non-Stress tests start next week (weekly until the baby) because of gest. diabetes. Doc said the baby looks a week older as far as size, but suspects that's genetics (my dad and I were both big babies).

The larger size could also be a result of the GD. I think it was so incredibly aswesome to not find out, I know it will be just as fun for you! If you don't want to catch the baby like Corbin did--you could at least request that the Doc let you be the first to look at the bits and pieces and see what they are!

I bet your wife would love to hear it from you instead of the Dr. At least I thought it was cool anyway. And sons first so rock, I never had a brother so I was so glad to have a boy first--I hope you get your wish!

Tell your wife to enjoy those orange slushes they give her for the diabetes test.

She's already had the pleasure of drinking that stuff ... it looked good in the bottle, but she assured me it didn't taste so well. She had to drink for a one- and three-hour test.

We have a great doctor who is aggressive and takes action ... because of her family history of diabetes, as soon as she started showing the slightest symptoms, urinating a lot and not being able to hold water, he had her get tested, and while she didn't actually fail the tests, because Amy wasn't happy w/ the numbers he went ahead and referred her to the Ctr of Diabetes.

It has slowly developed, but thanks to her concern and his action we were a little ahead of the game.

The baby could be bigger from the GD, but the docs seem to think it's more likely genetics because the GD didn't have a chance to develop much of an impact before it was caught.

I may peek down so she can here me say what the sex is.

That orange drink is quite possible the nastiest sh&t I have ever had the displeasure of drinking.

The only thing that kept me from throwing it up was the knowledge that if it came back up, I'd just have to drink a whole new bottle all over again. Somehow I managed to keep it down.

Imagine warm, flat Orange Crush with about 12 packets of sugar dissolved in it.

Nessa had to drink it three times. Failed the test the first time, results were WAY wrong on the second one (she should have been dead from the sugar....) and passed the third. Now she hates oranges.....
