Suprise in the cockpit

That's why you should cancel when you have the field in sight.
 
One of my fears is a big spider is gonna fall on my lap when I'm on short final and I'm going to whack into something.

I dunno, I'd bee (oh, the wit!) pretty dang scared if that thing tried to put it's ass on my face!
 
I was taxiing one day (in a SR20) on a cross-country. We taxied into a HUGE cloud of bugs. We ate up quite a few of them, but I had no idea what they were. We got back home and started to pack up our bags and whatnot from the backseat to find about 2 dozen bee's in the backseat. Most of them were dead, but a few were just happily crawling around. That was pretty spooky!
 
Honestly if It had happened in the air I'm not sure how I would handle it. I would just keep the plane flying and try and kill the thing. There's no way I could fly a flight with a wasp/bee in the backseat. I'd be perfectly comfortable knowing there was a bird in my plane, I think that picture is great by the way. I just hope I never have to deal with a wasp in a plane again. Dealing with them while mowing lawns is bad enough.
 
I don't mind a wasp or a bee flying around in the cockpit, but the second I see a snake in there I'm jumping out.

It probably wouldn't bother you if you don't swat at it. Unless you're messing around their nest, they usually keep to themselves. It got defensive and then offensive with you because you initially attacked it. And then it was every animal for himself.:)

When I was a camp councilor I would let the hornets eat confectionairy sugar out of my hand as a demo to just that point. They want food, if you get in the way of their food they get mad, when they get mad, they sting. so don;t get in the way of their food. Never got stung once doing that.
 
Man this is a nightmare I have about flying. I freak out when bees/wasps are near, and I am allergic to those bastards. To the OP, that was one amazingly pissed off bug! Sorry you had to endure that.
 
I remembered one other thing I have to add to this thread. Thankfully this guy is outside of the cockpit. One of the freakiest things I've ever seen.
