Your windscreen blocks UVB which burn you, it does not however block UVA rays. Unless you buy a sunscreen formulated in Europe, which uses FAR MORE effective UVA blockers(which are further broken down into UVA1 and UVA2), you are most likely getting little to no UVA protection.
The sunscreens we use say they are broad spectrum, but it is mostly marketing hype, they SUCK at blocking UVA rays.

So, in review, your wind screen is doing THE SAME THING YOUR CRAPPY SUNBLOCK IS DOiNG- blocking UVB rays and allowing UVA rays through.

If you really believe there is more than a minuscule help blocking UVA rays with our current sunscreens, you need to do more research. It may give you warm fuzzies but so does a placebo.

I posted the same thing elsewhere as well and was ridiculed. PPG made our windows and that is what they said as well.

This is a personal favorite. No white cast on skin, not greasy and fragrance free. The tube is on the smallish side for the price but does a great job and fits nicely in the flight bag. Good stuff.

Neutrogena makes a really good oil free sunblock. You can get it at Target for around 10 bucks, works great for me.

I put my wife in charge of finding me a good one that wasn't all greasy, that's what she came back with. No complaints so far, other than often forgetting to put it on. I've learned to put it out next to my toothbrush if I'm working that day.

Sun damage is serious. Thankfully nothing scary yet, but after 6.5 years in the right seat, I can see a noticeable amount of sun damage on the right side of my face when compared to the left.

Here is an example of a sunscreen that actually blocks UVA rays. It uses Tinsorb which is still banned in the US. It is $52 for 5 ounces but is probably well worth it.

I use this when I remember. It is broad spectrum, which is probably why you can't find it in the US. It also really does last all day.

Funny my wife did the same thing for me. I spent 2 years in Iraq and hardly wore any sunscreen on my face. Think my nose has some permanent damage due to that. I wear it more now than I ever have but still not as much as I should.

There are studies that show yes. And there are studies that show no.
