Suggestions/questions on commuting

Awesome, thanks. How long are you typcially sitting on reserve? Is it the whole month, or designated times so you can fly back home when not on reserve?

It's a usually a schedule of 3-5 days on and a few off. Every airline is different and most guarantee 11-12 days off per month. My old airline, I was able to choose where I wanted those days, while other airlines have "lines" you choose from that have a preset days on and off. You can go home on your days off of course, usually 2 or 3 days in a row.

But commuting to reserve sucks royally. Sometimes you can sit in your crashpad for days at a time. You can only watch so much tv and sit on your laptop for so long. Other times though, you might get called out a lot. Just depends on staffing that week.

Good info. Next question is will the new duty rules cost you a complete day (10 hours rest before flight) and require a CP or hotel? That might be a complete game changer I'm thinkin'
