Suggested reading for the multi addon?

I'm starting training soon to add the multi rating to my commercial. Do you guys have any suggested reading besides my POH and the FAA pubs? Is there even a need to buy some more material? I was looking at the multi Jepp book... I've been happy w/ their previous products...is it worth the cost?

Thanks

Let me save you some money. I've got the older (1995, ISBN #0-88487-190-8) paperback cover version of the Jepp Multi-Engine Pilot Manual that you can have. It probably covers all the same material, just in a smaller format (approx. 6" x 9"). It is in usable condition - not pristine, but only one mark inside and the corners are slightly bent. Picture attached.

$12 and it is yours, shipping included.

when I did my multi add on the basics were all that seemed necessary. You have already past your single checkride so all you need to do is show that you know what is going on with a multi, ie. critical engine, Vmc, single engine opps

The POH and Service Manuals for the airplane. That is the most important part in my opinion. The actually flying part can be found in the AFH and that is plenty.

I always found the private multi add-on (green book from ASA) oral exam guide to be very easy to understand.

I'd say get it.

google "flying light twins safely" it is an advisory circular or a safety advisory or something along those lines. Dont waste money on books for the addon, every single thing you need for VMC and critical engine can be found online and printed off.

For a multi add on all you need to know for the oral is:

10 Conditions for Vmc certification
4 factors that make an engine critical
Systems of the airplane you will do the ride in

Both the oral and the flight of both my commercial multi and MEI checkrides were by far the the easiest checkrides I've done. Spend an hour or two with an MEI going over multiengine aerodynamics and study the POH. That's really all you should need to prepare for the oral.

On that note...

keyword P.A.S.T
P-Factor
Accelerated Slipstream
Spiraling Slipstream
Torque

There are five factors of critical engine and an easy way to remember them for Vmc P.U.T.F.L.A.P.S

Power max sea level
Unfavorable CG
Trim- Set for takeoff
Flaps/ Cowl Flaps (The F has two factors)
Landing gear
Airborn out of ground effect
Propeller windmilling
Sea level max gross weight

These helped me out, you are on for the studying part though, there are alot of intelligent multi engine people on this site who would be happy to help

So here is a question for discussion.

Will Vmc ever be higher than the red line on the airspeed indicator? If so, why or why not?
