So in the past when going through preflights with students I usually mention that you can test the stall horn on a 172 by sucking on the opening on the leading edge. Well, in all my time instructing and telling people about this in Denver, not one has ever sucked on it or put their mouth anywhere near it.
In my few months instructing out here in So Cal, I am finding that people out here will put their lips on anything. I have had three people actually try it but what I saw today took the cake.... Did the preflight and noticed something on the leading edge. Looked closer and it was a perfect set of lipstick marks all around it. Someone with some bright red lipstick wrapped their lips around the opening. I just started to get a picture of it when another instructor came by and wiped it off. Darn, would have made a great avatar...
