So?There will be no shortage
There will be no "big demand"
There will be a MPL in the US
Sure, might as well make a midnight infomercial. As soon as one mill shuts down leaving its wannabes with big fat loans that cannot be discharged in bankruptcy because there are no jobs, another opens the doors and welcomes the fresh meat.
So now any flight school that opens and pairs up with a university to offer a degree program is going to be labeled a "mill"?
The problem isn't the schools, it's the students handing over thousands and thousands of dollars. Hey, I did it too...and I got burned by Airman Flight School (Norman, OK). I should have known better, but unfortunately was listening to the wrong individual at the time.
Wasn't Airman's fault. I gave them the money.....sorta.
...and what's wrong with infomercials? I watched the P90X infomercials on late night TV several times and it changed my life. Not everyone out there is trying to sell a pop sickle to an Eskimo.
Consumers need to take their share of the responsibility.

Part of that company "sharing responsibility is giving you money back..." Don't be so quick to excuse the nefarious...

:soapbox:
I'm no fan of getting a huge loan, I'm paying my own way here at Aviator. That being said, not everyone has a spare 70 grand just lying around. The people that spend this kind of money and go to flight schools without checking out every option deserve just what they get.
I came to aviator because for me it fit, sure I'd heard all the negatives. I came here checked it out personally as well as other schools, talked to more than one or two people that came here, and made my decision based on a lot of information. I could have probably spent less going to a small flight school back in Texas, but I'd have spent three or four times longer because of the distractions at home.
You're slamming this poor guy, who, for all we know has a sincere interest in teaching people how to fly. The reason he's looking to partner with a college is that it's about the only place you can get a low interest loan for flight instruction. Loans for Vocational training have all but dried up unless you're willing to pay 10-15% interest. I'd call it a smart business decision.
Mike here at Aviator did much the same thing, he saw the writing on the wall, vocational loans were drying up and so were options for students. He went through the hassle and expense of getting accredited as a College and partnered up with the local community college.
They'll open up for winter quarter to start their AS in aviation technology program, partnered with Indian River Community College.
Before you start slamming me for saying "get an aviation degree" I think its a pretty worthless degree as well, but it is a means to an end for some. Get the AS, then get a BA/BS in something useful.
Now, I'll get off my soapbox and go take my FOI written.
Is it beer thirty yet?
How are things over at aviator? Haven't heard much about them lately. Am considering doing a 50-hour time building program or something in the future.

Would you be able to "pay as you go" as college? Ain't gonna happen.
Plenty of people work full time and go to school part time to do just that.
I don't see the big deal with guy opening a flight school betting on the future. It's his business to succeed or fail.
