Successful ATP Checkride

I was in Wichita last week and on Saturday 8/29/09 took my ATP MEL checkride and passed, first time out. Really good feeling to have that out of the way.

Congrats!

How was it compared to your prior checkrides. I have always thought of the ATP ride as an overglorified Instrument checkride.

Thanks. I was in a PA-23 and yes it was pretty much (what am I saying; it was entirely under the hood) an instrument checkride. This time, checkrideitis, although present, didn't get the better of me. Prior checkrides were always a stress with the "...being judged..." baggage. Great DPE! He came from a realistic perspective.

Hey contgrats on the pilot doctorate cert. :D, i have a question, when you get the atp, at the back of the plastic cert. does includes information about your commercial cert.? i know the aircraft ratings will pass on. thnx

Mine doesn't but that is because this was an ATP MEL add-on. I had the ATP SEL/SES already. The certificate that I surrendered lost the "Insturment Rating" clause (rolled into the ATP) and had Commercial MEL Privleges. Now my temporary has ATP Single Engine Land and Sea and ATP Multi-Engine Land.

Well, aren't you the pilot stud. Now you need to start collecting various type ratings.:beer:

Pilot stud? Sorry, not my persona. Maybe you forgot the sarcasm tag, I'm not sure. What I really want to collect is a paycheck from a float plane operater. I'm working on converting this collection to Transport Canada certs. Regardless, I love the  addition. (After all I am a Canadian by birth.) This medium (bulletin board) is strange. Just like real life: perception is everything. I'm a simple guy, over 50, who has been paying my dues for over a decade. No better or worse than anyone else. Very glad to be a part of this community. For the congrats, I am grateful. You all rock!!!!

There was a time long ago when the standards were much looser I guess? Now I have a US passport and a bill of rights to back my presence. Great country! Too early for beer yet. Thanks.
