Student proof of citizenship..

Hey guys-

I've got a guy who wants to finish his private training. He's already had training, has held a student pilot certificate in the past - back in 2003 - do I still need to get a passport or a birth cert with gov ID or is he already "in the system?"

We went ahead and got a replacement birth certificate headed his way, but I was just curious if any of you have crossed this bridge?

Get the proof. It's a $10k fine per student, per flight/violation you are risking.
I don't think the TSA would look favorably on a 13 year old student pilot certificate for a student pilot transferring to a new organization for flight training.

From the AOPA website to save you some reading.
"Students who change flight schools and/or locations will be required to prove citizenship and receive a logbook endorsement. Recurring logbook endorsements are required when students change flight schools or instructors (if the instructor did not know the student when the student received the initial logbook endorsement"

Proof is on the way, just thought I'd see if anyone had dealt with this.

Is the $10k number published anywhere?
