Student pilots taking up passengers.

Ha, I was preflighting a club PA28 today, and I had a girl with me. A club member saw me on the ramp, and ran out and questioned me if I had a license or not. I was kind of in shock, and I said I just got my IR 2 months ago, and my PPL 2 years ago. She was apologetic, and went on to say that there was an apparent problem at the school with students taking up passengers. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The dispatcher asked if I had my Private. Not that it was a long time ago, but she was there when I passed my checkride wednesday!

I took some family up about a month ago, went out came back paid etc. Came back the following week, like on monday and I had just flown on Sat., and they dispatcher pulled me aside and asked me why I had taken up passengers as a student pilot. I just laughed and said I got my license 8 years ago and am currentely working on commercial.
I guess it had happened recently at the place I fly at too and she was pretty nervous about it apparently.

I joked with my friend about it once and he said he'd love to go up. Uh friend or not I'm not jumping in a plane with a 12 hour student, lol, don't know why anyone would.

If that happens again, tell them no. Then after a while you can tell them you have a pilot certificate, not a license.

Wow, just wow. It'd be one thing if someone took a friend up with them WHILE AN INSTRUCTOR IS SITTING IN THE RIGHT SEAT but to take someone up as a student pilot without one there?

What part of SOLO is too difficult to understand? :banghead:

I remember one student pilot who was on a "solo" cross country and when he landed back in fort pierce he blew out the nose wheel and had to get towed back in and than was busted.

My favorite is when time builders bring 5 or 10 gallons of avgas with them in the cabin so they can go just a little further.

I actually question the pax. It's not exactly like going on a Sunday drive.

Heh, I know a guy who took a girl on a date while he was a primary student... with his instructor, but still!

Is his first name Lou? And his last name Zher?

Because that's what I think when I hear your story.

Sheesh, some people. If all you've got in your arsenal is "I'm a pilot, I can take you flying" then that's pretty sad.

I was always amazed at students that would take people flying. Now, I do know of one kid...grew up around antique airplanes and private grass strips whose grandpa taught him to fly and let him take an Aeronca product around the patch at just shy of 15.

My old flight school had a few problems with students taking passengers. Makes you wonder what was going through there head or if the instructor didn't properly explain things.

I would have told her to mind our own damn business.
