Hi everyone,
So I have a CFI-ASE and fresh multi-engine ticket which I did at ATP (I have 1.4 PIC, just the checkride). I want to get my II and MEI add-on's squared away here. My dilemma:
I own a Mooney which I did my CFI initial in and have a good relationship with the instructor who trained me for my initial; I could do the double-I in that easily, and cheaply (with the fixed-costs of an airplane already sunk, additional flight for the cost of avgas is relatively cheap for me), but it would take a while due to scheduling issues and not get me any closer on the 15 AMEL PIC I need for MEI.
My thinking is to forego using my Mooney and go somewhere to do the CFII & MEI training concurrently in a twin. ATP comes to mind as a place to knock it out quickly, but you pay a premium cost per hour to so ($5600 for their 15 hr program). In this case I'd be foregoing hiring someone really experienced to teach me to be a good II (sorry, I don't mean to knock the resident ATP guys here with that statement, but my instructor friend who trained me for my CFI initial has a fair amount of time and is chief pilot for a local 135 outfit).
Just curious what the other folks on JC have to say?
