Stomach Pain.

Long post, but please read!

In June of this past year, I had a near fatal accident where I fell over 20 feet and broke both my feet, 9 bones total. This was about a month after I got my third class medical, and two weeks before my first scheduled flight solo, on my 16th birthday.

I recovered and resumed flying after about a month, and soloed on November 17th. Heres my problem:

After surgery began having stomach pains, sometimes severe. After assuming painkillers were causing my stomach pains, I stopped taking them. However, the pain did not go away. After a few weeks of pain, my father took me to the hospital and the doctors told me I had constapation (sp?). After this embarassing diagnosis, I was given medicine to make me go..which helped. BUUTT, the stomach pain simply didn't go away.

A few weeks after that I was in English class at my high school and I started shaking and did nothing about it. When the bell rang I got up and almost passed out..my clasmates thought I was high off on cocaine. I went to the hospital and had blood work done, and about a week later was diagnosed with H. Pylori. H. pylori is a stomach bacteria which messes around with stomach acid, and causes ulcers, etc. It is treatable.

My doctors told me that I should get treatment, but I would need to provide a stool (

) sample to begin treatment. I put the sample off for a little while until after I took a breathing test to make sure 100% that I had H. Pylori. After the test I did my stool sample, which the hospital lost! Where could it possibly be?

Last week I felt fine, like everything had gone away, and even scheduled a flight, first one since my solo. Flight was cancelled due to wind but I hung around the airport for a little while. I asked the airport manager and my CFI about my condition and they both told me not to bother telling the FAA, and that when I get a new medical in 2 years it will probably be gone.

Well, on wednesday I left school early and went to the hospital around 4. I started throwing up vile right when I got there and shaking uncontrollably (sp?). I was admitted over night for testing. The next day I had an ultrasound, catscan, and a test where a camera was put down my throat. All of these tests came back negative for anything.

The doctors right now feel it is something to do with acid reflux, and they discharged me last night at around 8 30pm. I have a follow up with my doctor next week and I may have to get something shoved up my arse, oh goody!

Here is the question for you JC people..

What should I do! Tell the FAA (and how?), just keep it downlow until I get my next medical, can my medical be taken?

this sucks, and I'm only 16!

Any help greatly appreicated..

D#$M that sucks!

You don't need to tell the FAA anything yet.

Once you have your Medical, you are expected to evaluate your self every time you fly. If I were to take someting that said "don't oprerate heavy machinery" I would be expected to ground myself untill I was off the meds. Obviously you have something going on inside you that won't allow you to fly solo

Whenever you feel up to flying, have an AME review you and your records and make sure that nothing will be a problem as far as flying goes. Some drugs are fine for every day people, but serious No-Nos for flying. He may issue you a new medical, or just tell you to keep flying on your old one.

When you go apply for your next medical, be prepared for a serious look at your health. I would recomend joining the AOPA and useing their staff to help you with any problems.

Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Doctors make plenty of mistakes just like everybody else.

I hope everything works out.
