If you are young, always reinvest the dividend. Commission free shares. So for those that invest in dividend ETFs do you get dividend checks or are they just rolled back into the fund and do you have to pay taxes on the fund yearly or just when you sell?

Could be either. Usually, an ETF pays the dividend in cash, and for a mutual fund, the value of the fund goes up. ETFs normally trade down equal to the dividend paid that day.So for those that invest in dividend ETFs do you get dividend checks or are they just rolled back into the fund and do you have to pay taxes on the fund yearly or just when you sell?
If you are paying more than $5 you are paying too much. What was your commission you paid? The commissions will eat your return on small purchases.

I would take the 10% profit now, and sit on the sidelines. Hell, I am happy with taking 10% for the yearTwo weeks ago I decided to start investing modestly in the stock market. Bought 18 shares of Sunpower Corp at $28.22 per. Today during after hours, they announced a joint venture with First Solar, and since then the stock price has jumped up to now $31.30. I'm ok with this development.![]()

18% in a day is a good return.I stand corrected: Now hovering in the $32.80 range.

Remember you learn the most when you lose money not when you make it.
Sell now and it doesn't drop.My thought now is shifting to "at what point do I sell if it drops?" And that number is around $75 profit. So far it's still above $80.
You shouldn't even be paying attention to daily price movements if you bought a company that you believe in.
