Starting In PHX Feb. 5th

Hi, my name is Chris. I am starting ATP's private program February 5th. I have taken the advice from other posts and I am trying to get as many writtens out of the way before I start. I just passed the private yesterday and am now studying for the IFR/CFII. I recieved quite a few textbooks and was curious as to how much I am required to complete before my start date. I don't want to spend too much time studying for all of my writtens and then fall behind on the information for the private.

If you live near an ATP location, I'm pretty sure you can take the writtens on site with them at no charge. I would guess that they can also endorse you as well.

if you dont, save the reciept. I know in the past they would reimburse you.

And good luck, I really liked the PHX location. hopefully you will be done before the heat kicks in

Oh yeah...

All new students get their "Box 'O Books" when they sign up for the program... It has all the Written Prep Guides, PTS Standards and ORAL study guides for each practical, POH's, Supplements, etc...

It's a big friggin' box... ;)

Cool, I figured it was something like that. I have a huge duffle bag full of books and I swear I need a Sherpa sometimes.
 
My hope is that if I knock out a bunch of writtens before I start, I will be able to take a couple of days off to see my family every now and then. Does anyone know if that is possible or will it still be too demanding?
 
1. Congratulations on choosing a great place to train.
2. Don't learn to pass the writtens. Learn so you'll still know it in several months when you'll need it to pass your commercial and CFI checkrides. You will need to know everything you have learned.
3. Don't count on seeing your family. On the other hand. . . usually there's a way to negotiate a couple of days off once or twice during the 90 days.
