Starting a New Chapter......

I have the Sheppard Air software which was a bit pricy, but I've honestly found I like the $10 ASA app.

Gleim was good to me. I like them, but have also heard good things about the ASA app, my classmate had it.

Before deciding which school to attend I asked some dispatchers at work for recommendations. Some people told me to stay away from IFOD and go to ATP HP. I drove to both places to check them out during class. IFOD had 20+ students, cramped in a room with little surface area for your books, calculators etc etc. ATP had only 4 students and felt much more relaxed at their facility. Free food on Mondays, all you ca drink coffees and iced teas everyday lol. My class ended up having only 3 people (evenings) so you can imagine we have plenty of 1-on-1 time. I would suggest you checking both places in person rather than just deciding by recommendations.

I went to what is now called ATP, good school. Lots of one on one opportunities with the class sizes.

Doesn't matter where you get the license. You don't know anything until you actually get a job and go through training.

Well, it does for the purposes of getting said license. He chose the school he felt gave him the best chance to succeed.

Don't get into the assumption that going to get a license is just something you have to do to get to the good stuff. There ARE valuable lessons to be learned in school. Weather, regulations, these are just a couple of things you'd damn well better show up to the interview knowing.

Yeah, you'll learn how to dispatch at your first job to be sure, but you aren't gonna be long for that first job if you can't understand how to read a TAF, NOTAM or a chart.

Of that third bit there -- holy Christ, never ever ever forget your resources in MX Ctrl if something doesn't make sense in those lovely MEL/CDL books.

Don't ever ever ever go in blind.

That written test sure is a brute beast isn't she? I honestly was more pumped after I nailed the ADX than after the O&P. I just wanted to get that over with. Either way, congrats and on to the next!

I was very nervous about the ADX before going in to take it. I used Sheppard Air to study for the last month and as I got into the test I actually found it pretty easy and ended up getting a 91% on it. I am hopping that the practical goes just as well. I am really excited to get it done so I can find a job and maybe end up dispatching some where with other members on here.
