staff using Company lounges

Most crew lounges also have a mildew/urine smell. No one is sure where that comes from, but there are some theories ...

It's cause management is pissing them off. Literally.

Coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Plus, I'm looking at some ugly ads that my clients want to run and looking forward to a day of telling them, you know, Joe, I don't think you really get your message across with this ad when I really want to say, Joe, are you freaking high? Your ad looks like crap.

Hum, I could have sworn I've seen on duty pilots in the red carpet club in Denver, but that was several years ago, could have changed by now.

True that!

And our in ATL is always 85 degrees, whether it's winter or summer. I hesistate to even take Kristie down there because it's so lousy.

Ahh, but my former crew lounge in DFW... Ahhh! Lounge chairs were in good repair, always fresh, clean, big windows overlooking the ramp and satellite television... And not too many roaches in the 'nap room'.

I had a marketing course in College where the prof would get a local business to let us come in and do an analysis of the place and offer suggestions. At our big presentation, I sat silently (yes, I did). The Prof asked if I had anything to add, I said I didn’t think my contribution would be very positive. The owner of the place pressed, saying he wanted to hear all angles. So I proceeded to tell him his Beer (it was a micro brewery) pretty much sucked and the dining atmosphere was a bit to ‘cafeteria’ (i.e. noise, clanging utensils etc..) for me. He then said, “you’re right, your contribution isn’t at all positive”. Hey, live and learn.

Just a side bar ... One of my pet peaves is when employees namely the refuelers accupy pilot lounges at FBO's. It has nothing to do with a I'm better than them attitude, it has to do with the fact that they smell of aviation fuel and are dirty from working. I hate sitting down in a chair that smells like jet fuel, or is stained. It would be best if the FBO / Employer provided separate lounge areas ... imho.

As long as they don't snore, and don't take the last seat, I don't really mind (unless they're really dirty and smelly).

Snoring in the pilots lounge is quickly becoming my biggest pet peeve! Drives me friggin' nuts!!!!

I'm probably the biggest snorer ... sorry, usually I'll nap in the airplane if its nice out. Talk about takeing the last seat, I walked into the FBO today and a refueler was layed out on the couch ... real classy.

Ahhh HA! lol....

I don't suppose you were one of the 4 lumberjacks snoring away at Atlantic in PHL the other day were you?

Because come to think of it...there were a couple of C-650's on the ramp!

at KIAD in Signature, everyone also seems to fight over the massage chair for some reason. Like we don't pay enough for "real masseuses"

Any pilot ever "Overnap"?

Never heard it happening in the airline world, but our charter clients arrived back to TLH one day and could not find the pilot. They called us, they called their secretaries (who also called us) and they had all the desk girls going through every rental slip to see if he was out to lunch (and they called us too.)

His cell phone was out of range. I paged him. No answer. Finally someone found our Director of Ops snoring away in the nap room.

Turns out his cell phone did not get coverage in that part of TLH and he had dropped his beeper in a large bowl of water earlier (yes you guessed what I mean) and stopped functioning.

That story will be retold for years
