Yep. They shut it down for "security reasons." Some local plane watchers tried to fight it, but no dice. Personally, I think it was political backscratching so they can expand the toll road right there at a later date. The whole "security" holds no water for me. There's a B-52 in a public park ON airport property closer to the runway. If you WERE going to fire a shoulder fired rocket, you could just fake a flat tire on the toll road. They didn't shut that down. I can read tail numbers from my balcony, but they didn't move all the residents out of the four apartment complexes in the landing pattern. That's just the north side of the airport. The plane watchers didn't help there cause any when the Orlando Sentinel interviewed them. Saying "Yeah, the planes are so close you can almost hit them with a rock" is a nail in the coffin......
