Splitting up...

Wife and I are splitting up. Not really comfortable to share the details but... you know.

We've been together for almost 12 years, married for 4yrs and have a 3yr old little girl.

The split doesn't have anything to do with aviation (because I'm not even a professional pilot), but, for me anyway, does have to do with not having support on the home front.

I guess just need a place to get it off my chest?
How are things going for you and the wife now Ralph? Things any better?

Hey dudes,

Been a while since I've checked in on this thread.

The update:
-She moved out
-Plan is to file sometime after the first of the year
-We are actually very civil with each other and in many regards, better people toward each other

Overall, the situation has steadily improved. I picked up a second job to help distract me from everything going on. The added plus is that with the additional income I will be able to make additional progress with my training.

While it has had it's fair share of downs (getting drunk by yourself, lonliness, etc..) it has had its ups (really valuing the time spent with family, my daughter, and being grateful for the little things)

Super tired right now so will update more tomorrow (hopefully)

It is good to hear that some positive things are coming from it. Keep your head up.

Also, no need to get drunk by yourself, we have plenty of members in and around DFW that you can get drunk with!

OK so here is a little more detail as far as an update is concerned.

One thing that had been both a positive and a negative in this situation is that I have developed quite an intense cynicism that has left me slightly jaded in regards to my general outlook on things. However, this has also forced me to become more honest with people. Not to the point of being obtuse but just being open in a way that I would hope others would be open with me.

I wouldn't say I haven't been honest with people, it's just that in a lot of social circumstances, people tend to produce a facet of themselves that has been tailored for whatever occasion they find themselves in. I would prefer to still do the same thing (I'm not going to go into a job interview and act like I do with my closest friends) but with a greater degree of transparency.

I don't know if any of that makes sense but there it is.

I have developed quite an intense cynicism

If you think you are cynical now, wait until it is all over and then check your opinion of our "justice" system that places the welfare of the lawyers above the welfare of the family or any hint of fairness.
