I never got a chance to fly a PT-19 or PT-23 but my grandpa had glowing words about both. Said they were great flying machines. If you're near Newport News

Flies so nicely. That’s push rods vs cables for you.I never got a chance to fly a PT-19 or PT-23 but my grandpa had glowing words about both. Said they were great flying machines.
Does it have a starter? I have hand propped airplanes but I never liked it, in fact I never tell people that I've done it because I'd rather not do it again. I also have zero interest in standing on a wing cranking up an inertia starter. I'm what you might call a new age old fart, I'm in my mid-fifties and growing up in modern times has made me soft.Flies so nicely. That’s push rods vs cables for you.
I've seen both (-19 and -23) with inertia starters.Does it have a starter? He never bought one because they can really collect moisture in places you don't want a wooden airplane to collect in. And that is a lot of wing to rebuild. Not as daunting as a Stinson Reliant but it's a job.Flies so nicely. That’s push rods vs cables for you.
Is there a Coffman starter option?I've seen both (-19 and -23) with inertia starters.
My TEAM HiMax ultralight had a pull starter in the cockpit. Is there a Coffman starter option?
I'm sure that worked fine for you but that's not what I'm talking about.I

I do not know. The ones I've been around were either cranked or propped. I share your feelings about propping and have officially retired from doing that. On top of not many people knowing how to prop these days, there is a similar shortage of pilots who know how to be on the receiving end - proper call outs/responses, etc. I just don't trust anyone enough anymore. Is there a Coffman starter option?
I don't think they had a shotgun starter but I did fly a Fairchild 24 with a Ranger and it had a starter. So I'm sure they can have one. And Continental R670's on Stearmans and Waco UPF's had starters so the PT-23 would I would think. Is there a Coffman starter option?
My father flew Skyraiders, I know what a Coffman starter is.I'm sure that worked fine for you but that's not what I'm talking about.
Yeh I was working the wobble pump and the instructor was on the starter.Does it have a starter?
