Spirit SE1

Flies so nicely. That’s push rods vs cables for you.
Does it have a starter? I have hand propped airplanes but I never liked it, in fact I never tell people that I've done it because I'd rather not do it again. I also have zero interest in standing on a wing cranking up an inertia starter. I'm what you might call a new age old fart, I'm in my mid-fifties and growing up in modern times has made me soft.

I've seen both (-19 and -23) with inertia starters.

He never bought one because they can really collect moisture in places you don't want a wooden airplane to collect in. And that is a lot of wing to rebuild. Not as daunting as a Stinson Reliant but it's a job.

Is there a Coffman starter option?
I do not know. The ones I've been around were either cranked or propped. I share your feelings about propping and have officially retired from doing that. On top of not many people knowing how to prop these days, there is a similar shortage of pilots who know how to be on the receiving end - proper call outs/responses, etc. I just don't trust anyone enough anymore.

I don't think they had a shotgun starter but I did fly a Fairchild 24 with a Ranger and it had a starter. So I'm sure they can have one. And Continental R670's on Stearmans and Waco UPF's had starters so the PT-23 would I would think.

Yeh I was working the wobble pump and the instructor was on the starter.
