I read online that spirit signed on to potentially get 75 more airbuses.
Good news for anyone there now. Maybe now ill get a call....but probably not.

I think i figured out that places like jet blue and spirit like to hire f/o's because they don't have their pic time so they wont leave for the legacies after getting that type rating......

By the way error in the post topic it should have read: Spirit getting 75 more AIRBI?

Just curious, what interests you about working for that particular carrier?

Growth. The guy I know there really likes it. I think those are two decent reasons. Not to mention if things don't work out you will be set up to be picked up by a legacy.

Lots of people have asked me why and here are my reasons.

I used to be all about the "i wanna fly a 747 to europe and blah blah blah", but now I just want to fly what I do now but get paid more, have better work rules and nore stability that regionals cant provide.

Spirit made more money with their 35 airplans than other airlines with their hundred.

Spirit has tapped the south america market that only the legacys have served. So they have very little competition.

I also see the big picture, while spirit is small now they are going to grow like mad in the next 10 years.

I'm from the florida area and being able to be based back there would be a dream come true.

So those are my reasons

I know, i'm always in the wrong. 3 years ago I had about 3k tt and was told to apply when I had some pic. Now that,i have pic im told that im not wanted because I will leave.

The guy that I know there makes enough money now that if he were to go to a legacy he would lose money... and lots of it.

I believe it.

I was thinking from a new hire angle. If things don't work out in 3 years when the majors are expected to hire it wouldn't be a bad jump. If I had my way I would like to see the company grow and pilots continue to improve their contract.

What were they doing before coming to spirit? That would make a huge difference on how much someone would "love" working there.

Various things. One flew citations for a large corporate outfit. The other was flying air ambo in lears. Both have been there over ten years now

Looks like the pay is nearly equivalent to Virgin - almost dollar for dollar. Captain pay exceeds Virgin after a few years.

Huh? Care to clarify?

It's all relative to where they were working before spirit. Sounds like spirit was a step up for both of them, so logically, they will "love it" compared to where they were before. Now, if someone that worked for a higher tiered carrier and got furloughed and went to spirit, then they probably wouldn't "love it" so much as compared to where they came from, spirit is most certainly a step backwards in almost all respects.

How is this any different at all from going to any new job from another job?

If there is no difference, then what's this even in the Spirit Airbus order thread for?
