Spirit Furloughing

I’m guessing a lack of awareness of the current climate mixed with have the boxes checked, now what can you do for me.

Just out of curiosity, any squeaking by lately that don’t have the 4-year? Heard that the big 3 haven’t changed it back to required, but very strongly preferred is emphasized.

I personally haven’t seen it, but there maybe a few.

Me and a friend of mine both have interviews coming up soon, both Spirit CA’s without a degree. That said I was fortunate enough to get a meet n greet last year and I’m sure that’s very helpful. It sucks to be so excited for something and kinda devastated at the same time. Starting over when you’ve really enjoyed something for almost a decade isn’t fun.

It sucks you have to start over again, but I do hope you get on with the U and have a great career there.

Just a general interview tip, if an airline recruiter asks you why you want to come work at Airline X, your answer should not involve anything about your previous/current airline. Make it about the airline you’re applying for and why you’ll be a good mutual fit there. Also…for the love of all that’s holy…get interview prep.

Good luck!

I haven’t heard U doing this, however it’s good advice. If you knock the M&G out of the park, you have a good chance of getting a call.

This reminds me of a previous NJC event when hiring was at a frenzy. A guy (who wasn't a JC member that attended the NJC M&G walked out with an offer. Crazy times

American definitely hand out CJOs at job fairs.

I really loved working for that airline. Felt. I'm sorry how it's turned out and hoping for the best for all of you.

Thank you, I also did get interview prep. I believe just getting an interview of that magnitude should be considered a career achievement in itself and I plan to prepare and display that gratitude in my interview.

again I’m pretty late in the game…. What are some recommended interview prep places?
The last time I did this I went with Clark, and there was Emerald coast 10 years ago, but I’m not up to speed on what’s available now.

I was hoping that there was going to be an acquisition of some sort, but the latest filing indicates that the C-suite thinks there’s probably less than 12 months liquidity left.

I had already been working on my exit plan and have been working in tax for the last 5 years working on gaining experience there, and stay working as a part time pilot for the health insurance for the last 7 years before 65.

I have no expectation of ever upgrading back to captain in the remaining career time span as an airline pilot.

How long can I expect to be in JFK/LGA/ EWR (which I assume are the junior new hire bases) trying to get back west to DFW/IAH if I am even able to find employment as an FO with A/U/D?

I had really hoped to be done with flying by 60 in 2 years and just be a part time pilot for the last 5 years flying 1 or 2 trips a month and was hoping Yellow could hang on for 2 more years and I’d just retire at 60 if yellow went under, but it’s not likely at this point. I definitely won’t be able to be lazy like I have been recently since I don’t think I can drop under time at A/U/D.

Some thoughts, if you are 58, have no desire or expectation of upgrading again, and were happy if it last 2 more years, whats the risk of riding it out at NK? At worst your 1 year off what wouldve been an acceptable outcome to you. At best NK continues to operate as usual or is acquired. It seems like the risk of staying isnt very high.

I would imagine the 'smell' of a rotting fish is not pleasant to be around... Hope that makes sense....

Sorry man. At AA, if hiring continues like they project, you could hold DFW on the 737 less than 6 months after training. If hiring pauses again, all bets are off. The good news is that we still have a lot of retirements happening, even if you exclude growth, which should require at least 800-900 for the next couple of years. Good luck.

I recommend people to go to Raven if asked. James is a good dude and somehow managed to get my dumb ass hired at both Delta and United.

I’ve also heard good things about Spitfire but no firsthand experience.

As for IAH, you could probably get it in 6 months at United, but results may vary depending on the needs of the company.

I’d second Raven. I only used them for an app review but they seemed like they actually gave a crap and put some effort in. Can’t say the same for one of the others that’s popular on Facebook.

Not only have I used Raven, but they were a client of mine in a previous life. Good people.
