A few weeks ago, I went up in my flight school's American Champion Super Decathlon to get my spin endorsement for my CFI. I went up with my flight school's manager, who is also a CFI, has been to Sean D. Tucker's Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety in CA, and really knows what he's doing. After departing PVD, we went out to the practice area so I could get a feel for the airplane, do a few stalls, and then he demostrated a few spins. Unfortunately, those would leave me feeling green... I wouldn't feel it until after pulling out from the dive, but thought it would be best to not take chances.
Anyway, we mounted my camera in the back on one of the metal bars in the cockpit, but only managed to record takeoff and then an aborted landing attempt... my camera must have been off when we tried to record a spin. He went around because apparently it's tricky landing from the back seat with my giant melon in the way, while I'm holding my camera up in front of the windshield...

After waiting a few weeks for some more decent weather, we finally finished yesterday. This time I wore my Sea-Band accupressure wristbands that I bought five years ago while working on my private, and once again they seem to have worked... I could've spun that thing all afternoon! This time I had the camera mounted on a bar in front of me, where I could see/control it better.
I was amazed when I went back and watched the videos when I got home... the first one is actually right over the neighborhood I grew up in (and where my Dad still lives)! Nothing like being a mile over your former stompin' grounds, pointed straight at it.

My flight school's Super Decathlon... this thing is about as much fun you can have in the air with your pants on. I used the new camera for the ground photos... I somehow managed to leave the ISO at 1600 but luckily they still came out good.

I've finally got my spin endorsement, and my "just in case" Sic-Sac will live to see another day!
