SpaceX Launch Thread

With that launch today (coincidentally on the 51st anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing), SpaceX broke the NASA turnaround record for space flight as the first stage booster was the same one that sent Bob and Doug to the ISS 51 days ago.

They also managed to catch both payload fairings for the first time.

Oddly enough, I was watching a sailing channel on YouTube and the guy saw the ships that caught the fairings offshore.

I think it’s just amazing theyve got such an aggressive launch schedule. Don’t know if they’ve achieved 4 launches in one month yet. but when they put the NASA crew in space, they had 20 more launches scheduled for 2020.

that would make this a busy thread if they’re able to keep to the launch schedule.

the united launch competitor arent getting that many launches in.

spacex is definitely getting their star link conestalltion filled out, finally getting 1000 of their planned 42000 satellites into orbit to provide broadband internet from low earth orbit. That is one thing I’m looking forward to.

when the shuttle was still flying, one mission our destroyer got tasked with was NASA shuttle support, so we were on a tether and had to wait downrange from Kennedy during the launch window to just be available in the event something happened. It didn’t change the routine of the ship. We just did our normal daily routine, but in CIC we had to be on station and be ready to assume the duties of on scene commander in the event we need to do a SAR mission.

I liked this the best. "On Sunday morning, the astronauts were greeted with a wake-up message sent from Earth by their two sons".

Damn, it took so lonnnnnnnngggg to open the door of the capsule so we could see the astronauts. I was like call a locksmith. lol Made me think of Open the pod bay doors … HAL.

Only got to see about two minutes of Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken, but I was so happy.

Finally something to be proud of........something so historic, so important and a step closer to more space exploration.....something so large, so beyond the current crap fest that we all are facing, something so expansive. Damn. Think I'll go outside and look at some stars and planets tonight. Well done Mr. Musk.

Looking at you Boeing to get your ass in gear....... Starliner capsule not performing so well.

Final thought, Elon............the astronaut's flight suits and helmets look great. But those damn ass baggy boots have to go. They look like they came from either Home Depot or Fisherman's Hardware.
