Southwest Rumot

You know Mike, I heard the exact same thing from a ticket agent in Altoona, PA. I didn't believe them but the bartender at the Gingerbread Man assured me it was true!

No way.....the Gingerbread Man?!? Many a good night spent there.....the Knickerbocker too. ;) Both great places for airline industry factual rumors. :p

Yeah, heard some of our 7-hondos might head to IAH too. If they shrink DEN for us long term I am as good as gone. Gotta keep the head up, otherwise I might go mental

You know, if we had one list, this wouldn't be a big deal and you could just big over to the ERJ for the upcoming Denver flying.

You know, just an idea :)

(Once I get back on property, let me know what I can do to help you guys to that end).

yep, bunch of SKW CRJ-700s loaded into IAH flying, and Chataquron EMB-170s loaded into EWR. And when the train gets back he gets the lovely new destinations of Cedar Rapids IA and Hobbs NM.

It's to be expected. Our 50 seaters (especially the XR) are designed for longer, thinner routes. Less frequency, but longer range with more payload than the CRJ-200 can handle in many cases. The XR can get into hot and high airports, and then shuttle 50 lucky contestants to the furtherest, worst positioned hubs in the country.

<off topic> Don't know why I never noticed that you live in Ann Arbor before Jtrain. One of my best friends from college lives there. He's a DAL 767 FO based (as of Dec) in DTW. His wife is a professor at EMU. </off topic>

Personally I was hoping for Bangor flights over freaking Hobbs, New Mexico. talk about pulling a city out of your ass. Smisek must have a little play thin there or something man.

You probably didn't notice because I've moved once a year since I graduated college :)

We've been here about a year now, bought a house, yada yada. It's home for us (Emily grew up about 20 minutes from here, myself 2 hours north), and we plan on sticking around these parts.

If you ever end up at ARB/YIP/DTW/DET let me know, we're close to all of them.

I'm all for one list, once we get one them thar fancy unions it should be a little easier doing a big ol' merge of the lists :)

You heard we're taking over a bunch of your 50 seat Denver flying, right? 50 of our 50 seat jets are coming out of Houston and headed into DEN/ORD/IAD.

Not rumor, either. Sorry man.
Ya, you guys are also starting a couple of UAs new routes such as DEN-DAL/LBB/AMA, and IAD-SDF along with several new CO routes including IAH-PSP/GJT and the all exciting Hobbs, New Mexico. But interestingly, Skywest will be flying 2 daily CRJ-700s IAH-BFL which was announced as a new CO route.

I found who was operating what route by looking thru UA's reservations system at work, it's not online yet.

Oh, and I guess this means it won't be long before a certain ASA Captain and reality TV star will be welcoming passengers on-board a flight from Louisville to Birmingham.

Yeah.

He's back in training right now actually.

Surprised really.

Guess he didn't make enough money selling himself out.

Not necroposting (I hope) but curious as to whether there have been any other rumors of late regarding the next SWA application window.

Friend of mine, a 9E CA, was hired at SWA and into the pool in 2008. He just got a call from SWA last month for a quick interview this month, went, got the word for a confirmed class date in January. He will put his notice in next month, and move onto SWA!

I've also heard very soon from several people. I did my type at Higher Power at the end of October. They posted on their Facebook page that they're meeting with SWA after Thanksgiving. I certainly hope it's good news!

This is definitely great news. I was on an US Air flight coming home this morning and the flight attendant said that they'll be hiring next year as well. I asked her about the furloughs. She said that they are getting recalled with the company looking to hire about 300 pilots. I don't know how true it is but maybe someone else could chime in on this.

A US Airways engine mechanic told me the same thing. One of the baggage handlers from the midnight shift confirmed it.

:D

"Here’s how the numbers break out:
• 420 Flight Attendants:
320 openings in our East Coastbased
operation and 100 openings in our West Coast-based
operation. Approximately 600 US Airways flight attendants
based on the East Coast who accepted voluntary leave
packages in 2004 and 2005 will be offered the ability to
return to flying prior to any new hire flight attendants.

• 80 Pilots:
60 openings in our East Coast-based operation
will be filled by a combination of former US Airways pilots
currently on furlough status, then former America West pilots
currently on furlough status, and then new hire pilots. 20
openings in our West Coast-based operation will be filled by
former America West pilots on furlough status who will have

the option to return to active status."

I'm a PHX Ramper, so take that maybe a step below a PIT based A/P, but that's what the memo says.

I heard all the Air Tran guys are going to have to re-interview to keep their jobs...
