Wait. What? You guys can TRADE trips? We get "denied due to staffing. Thanks for all that you do" form letters.

We have about 50% reserve coverage per day. The other thing is we are both under guarantee AND he is still on high mins so I guess they are trying to get him to get off it.

But otherwise, 99% of the time, denied, especially if one is over guarantee and the other is below.

Just got assigned a trip outta DTW (techincally it's two HSs and two DHs built into a trip). Scheduling comments....."running short on DTW rsvs." More block hours in March + downgrading 31 CAs = scheduling nightmare I'm thinking.

....Unless the guy that is over guarantee is giving time to the guy that is under guarantee?;)

I got that programed response when I tried to SWAP a trip. 3 day for a 3 day, just the original left on Thursday and the one I wanted left on Wednesday. Nearly identical hours and credit and they denied it due to the original trip ending in the next bid period, and they didn't know what the staffing levels would be :banghead: Funny thing was, I got the message the day the lines were released to scheduling...

Bonus for being on RSV is I can only pick up or swap RSV days. Yeah, I get 10 days off a month. Think I'm gonna voluntarily pick up an extra day of abuse? :)

Heck no! My phone rang yesterday (day off) and my friend asked if I was going to answer... nope. They left a message after they called me a second time (:banghead:) for a JA that had a 515 AM show. Why don't you call someone who will be sitting at the airport bored out of their mind and wanting to fly rather than bugging me on my day off:panic:

They can't use the RRs. Then they wouldn't have a RR! I've heard that from more than one crew scheduler when a flight was gonna be delayed an hour and a half waiting on a home reserve to get there.

Although, to be fair, I've had ONE RR shift that I didn't get an "OMG! WE NEED YOU NOW!" call. Last one was "We need you on a Saab that's leaving in 20 minutes to go to LEX." Needless to say, the gate agent over at XJ wasn't too happy.

No kidding.

Last time I sat ready reserve was when I had a couple of reserve days on a build up line last year. Show time of 515 AM, nine hour variety. They called at 130 PM for a flight leaving at 230 PM. Got to the gate and nobody, repeat NOBODY (gate agent, scheduling, dispatch) knew where the airplane was. An hour later, they found the airplane over at A11 with maintenance on board trying to fix a 10th stage bleed problem. Ended up calling in fatigued on that one... heard later the flight was delayed even more because they called a home reserve.

As far as short notice. I was called out short notice (Captains phone rang about 30 seconds after mine) to DH to STL to pick up a broke airplane. They knew it was broke, knew it was going to be down for a while (flaps fail) yet they have to call RR short notice to get the airplane at 800 at night?:panic:
