Somebody else was found.

People like @Three Down and Locked make being a conservative so difficult in modern society for no reason. Does anyone honestly believe the government is perpetuating the bigfoot myth to stop logging?

You're not wrong. While there certainly are crazies on both sides of the spectrum, I know I certainly do dismiss outright some only kind of crazy conservative positions, because the people espousing them are linked (by the C word) to the people who think Big Foot is the reason the government isn't granting logging permits.

I know a guy who has lived his entire life in Northern California and spent the majority of his younger years as a logger, the sort of logger they made that TV show about with all sorts of heavy equipment and cables and people being gravely injured on a regular basis. He's a fairly conservative guy and will actually use his vacation time to go backpacking solo in those same mountains. His family basically owns a mountain and on that mountain there's a cabin with a spring fed creek and he seems to enjoy spending time there with his family. One thing I've never heard him mention is Bigfoot.

Most folks are disinclined to talk out of school about their friends, in my experience.

The first rule of Squatch is you don't talk about Squatch.

He just wants to be in a power trio.

I have been casually researching this phenomenon... I firmly believe it could be possible...

There's actually a documentary coming out soon about this topic!

First I've heard of this one (the logging conspiracy part). Anyone remember the big foot hotline from the '90s? My friends and I used to prank it all the time. We were big jerky boys fans at the time

edit: found the link Sasquatch Phone Home

Back when a 503 area code wasn't just Portland. I'd also forgotten about the TV show Hard Copy.

Ransom trivia: Growing up in FL, there were 3 area codes, 305, 813 and 904. This was before the AT&T breakup.

In Tampa, the local phone company was not a Bell unit, one of the very few in country. Local service was provided by GTE.

(Even though there is some very convincing material from reliable sources).

Is there hough?

As a degreed forester...there's plenty of red cockaded woodpeckers and spotted owls and other natural species that have locked up plenty of logging operation for yearzzzzzzzzzzzz....hell, Bigfoot is the least of loggers woorries!

To be fair, they only quit and went to play World of Warcraft because boomer bloodhounds saddled them with huge tracking school debt and made dog house ownership unobtainable.

So... it's "I can't afford a house, therefore, I'll just sit back and expect + demand the government to take care of me."

No wonder calls for and demanding free college and UBI is a mainstay of the radical left, and soon, mainstream left.

I am sure there are some who do expect those things, and like you say, obviously student loan forgiveness is an issue being discussed (one which I, btw, don't agree with). But I don't think that is representative of the whole of ours (and younger) generations. There are still motivated hard workers out there who aren't content to just be bailed out of all their bad times. However I'd say that the reality of employment benefits aren't what they used to be. The reality of being a first time home buyer isn't what it used to be. And of course the incredible qualifications creep for employment has turned a college degree into a near requirement for most jobs with any sort of benefits or stability. That last point is one reason why so many kids these days are getting into so much college debt. It's an expectation that they go, regardless of personal interest or even applicability to their job field. And the costs for education continue to skyrocket. It also means that the advantages that a college grad once had are now very diluted, so the return on investment (aside from the pure return of an education in of itself) is lower IMO.
